Today it's back to school day for our learners, holidays are over!

Update from the ongoing construction of the iThemba primary school: The landscaping is completed all way round at the back and alongside of the school!

Community workers also completed the roof trusses for classroom 3; another classroom has been painted and the fluorescent lights have been installed.

Finally, toilets and drainage pipes have been installed in the toilet and bathroom area.

On Wednesday 27th, GOOD HOPE FM will visit our premises to raise more awareness of the iThemba project and attract possible sponsorships to the production of the new iThemba primary school! There will be also Performances, a jumping Castle and lunch for the kids provided by Pizza Shack...come by and support us if you have the chance

Good morning everyone :-) We have an update about the construction site of the iThemba primary school: The classrooms ceilings and entrance doors are 75% complete! The walls have been undercoated and still need the final coat. All wiring is completed, light sockets and wall plugs to be completed by the 3rd October. Find here some more impressions about the ongoing works.

Thanks so much to WOOLWORTHS SA for the weekly donation of food. Last week we received plenty of rolls and vegetables. Lena is seen preparing the rolls for the children’s snack and a vegetable and ostrich steak meal for their lunch.

News from our mobilelearning project: Our parents had an information gathering from CareUp at Capricorn Primary last weekend! Sue-ellen, Emily and Charmaine attended. The parents were thanked and encouraged to use the app to assist in their children’s learning. Mbalentle’s mom received a gift for continually using the app!

Last week we welcomed visitors from Germany! They included members of the Lufthansa Group Media Production team, Corporate Communications for the Lufthansa Group and two bloggers from FASHIONCARPET. They brought along beautiful soft toys and water bottles for each one of the children. Thank you!

We had a Cultural Day Fundraiser last Friday! Our children took this opportunity to dress up for the occasion.

In line with the theme of transport that our younger learners were doing recently, they dramatized a train scene. Nangamso was the ticket seller, Thandi the driver and the children were the passengers. So the passengers had to purchase their tickets first before boarding and riding on the train....now our train rides into the weekend...happy weekend everybody!

Happy Monday from iThemba! Sue-ellen (left), Thandi (right) and Veronica Nicholas (midddle) went for a week training in Muizenberg recently to do the National Curriculum Framework. This is the new national syllabus which will be compulsory in the next five years for children from ages 0-4 years at all pre-schools and educare centres.
