Visitor time at iThemba! The Lufthansa InTouch Group Board Members, Erik, Tobias and Ulf came to visit the primary school site and our school last week! Ian and Melanie accompanied them. The children enjoyed having visitors and sang a few songs for them

Thanks so much to WOOLWORTHS SA for the weekly donation of food. Last week we received plenty of rolls and vegetables. Lena is seen preparing the rolls for the children’s snack and a vegetable and ostrich steak meal for their lunch.

Do you remember the recent visit from the bloggers Nina (Fashiioncarpet) and Patrick (Patkahlo) at iThemba? They produced a wonderful little video about iThemba and the to-be-built primary school! We received donations again and are very grateful! Thanks to CareUp for donating a gift voucher to our school for the use of stationary. Thanks to Woolworths, they donated food to our school. Another thanks goes to Wayne Johannes for delivering suckers from Ola for School.

News from our mobilelearning project: Our parents had an information gathering from CareUp at Capricorn Primary last weekend! Sue-ellen, Emily and Charmaine attended. The parents were thanked and encouraged to use the app to assist in their children’s learning. Mbalentle’s mom received a gift for continually using the app!

Charmaine rescued an injured bird from the garden and was asked to show the learners his body and allow them to touch him. Our children were so amazed yet showed great empathy.

Visitors from Germany

Last week we welcomed visitors from Germany! They included members of the Lufthansa Group Media Production team, Corporate Communications for the Lufthansa Group and two bloggers from FASHIONCARPET. They brought along beautiful soft toys and water bottles for each one of the children. Thank you!

We had a Cultural Day Fundraiser last Friday! Our children took this opportunity to dress up for the occasion.

They looked so beautiful! Thank you to the parents for putting in so much effort into this venture and for their ongoing support.

The Grade R learners were asked to draw a picture of the “Three Bears” after they read the book, and this is what Awethu created...so nice!

 

The younger class participated in an obstacle course using the equipment outside, and they had so much fun.

It's Monday again! With the lovely sunny days last week, our learners and teachers had so much fun playing different outside games like wheel barrow racing and tug of war...always keep moving!

In line with the theme of transport that our younger learners were doing recently, they dramatized a train scene. Nangamso was the ticket seller, Thandi the driver and the children were the passengers. So the passengers had to purchase their tickets first before boarding and riding on the train....now our train rides into the weekend...happy weekend everybody!

Welcome Wendy Soloman to iThemba! Wenda is the mom of Wilfred, one of our first learners at school in 2010, and currently volunteers at school for two days per week. This is in preparation for her Level Four studies at False Bay college in 2018.

Happy Monday from iThemba! Sue-ellen (left), Thandi (right) and Veronica Nicholas (midddle) went for a week training in Muizenberg recently to do the National Curriculum Framework. This is the new national syllabus which will be compulsory in the next five years for children from ages 0-4 years at all pre-schools and educare centres.

Last week, Vuyolmethu Ndungane, a Grade 11 Muizenberg High School learner, spent two days with us to do job shadowing. She enjoyed playing and interacting with our children so much because she was reminded of her time at preschool.
